Manufacturing Process
The 9-step manufacturing process of an Anticon® Wipe
1. Extrusion
Extrusion is the genesis of every Anticon cleanroon wipe. Molten or semi-soft virgin polyester pellets are forced under pressure through a die to form continuous strands of polyester filaments. These continuous strands are cooled and combined in any number to produce a single yarn. Using continuous filament yarns in our Anticon wipes greatly reduces the potential for particle and fiber generation.
2. Texturing
In this step, our continuous filament yarns are modified via a crimping process known as texturing to increase surface area, resilience, abrasion resistance, and moisture absorption.
3. Fabric Formation
Our Anticon clean room wipes are made from knitted fabrics. This is a fabric formed by a series of interlocking loops of one or more yarns. In this type knit, one continuous yarn runs crosswise in the fabric making all the loops in one course or row of interlocking loops. This construction provides strength and resilience during the wiping process.
4. Initial Cleaning
After fabric formation, the fabric undergoes initial cleaning to remove process aides that are needed in the yarn and fabric formation phases.
5. Fabric Finishing
After initial cleaning, Anticon fabrics are finished to exacting specifications for width, length, and other critical measurements. Once all quality checks are completed and verified, this roll will be sent to be manufactured into Anticon wipes.
6. Dimensioning
Anticon wipes are cut to size using proprietary technology developed by research scientists and engineers. Their goal is to develop innovative edge-sealing technologies to minimize those factors critical to cleanroom environments: particles and fibers.
7. Final Cleaning
Anticon cleanroom wipes are final processed in state-of-the-art facilities using ultra-pure water and chemicals to obtain minimum particles, fibers and NVR's.
8. Quality Assurance
We test more frequently than any other cleanroom wipes manufacturer. Every lot of Anticon wipes is tested to the fullest extent to ensure the highest quality and consistency. We test each lot for large and small liquid particles, airborne particles, fibers, nonvolatile residues, sorbency capacity and rate, and specific ion content, using the Recommended Practices authored by the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology’s (IEST) Working Group 4 – Evaluating Cleanroom Wiping Materials. Each lot must meet our strict internal specifications set by our Quality and Engineerings teams. If it doesn't pass, it doesn't ship.
