First Contec-produced Anticon Products wipes are ready to ship

In July, Contec, Inc. signed an agreement to purchase all the substantial assets of the Anticon® Products cleanroom wipes business from Milliken & Company. Since then, we have been diligently planning the move of products, technology, and manufacturing equipment from Milliken’s production plant in Union, SC to our facilities in nearby Spartanburg, SC and Suzhou, China. The long-term partnership between Contec and Milliken will provide for consistency in Anticon Products and innovation with performance advantages to our customers.

Our objectives for integrating Anticon Products into Contec include providing our customers with a seamless transition and integrity in product quality. This includes Contec’s world-famous customer service, uninterrupted supply of product, flawless order fulfillment and expert product and applications tech support. To ensure consistent product quality, Contec’s quality labs have been correlated with the Anticon lab in Union, SC and over the next several months, key Anticon processes will be relocated to Contec and set up to yield equal or superior quality. Process validations will be performed before the start-up of production for each Anticon product.

For now, to ensure consistency of quality and orderly transition, Anticon Products will continue to be manufactured by Milliken. With numerous products to transition, some products are ready to move and other products may not be transferred until 1Q 2010. Behind the timing of any particular product’s move is the completion of a product-specific validated integration process. All of the Anticon converting, laundering and ancillary equipment is scheduled to be moved to Contec before the end of 1Q 2010.

We are pleased to announce that the first Contec-produced Anticon Products wipes are ready to ship, and this month, some customers will begin to see some improvements in the packaging of certain Anticon products:

  • Labels:  All Anticon Products will now have a state-of-the-art bag label printed at the time of manufacture that includes the part number, part number barcode, product name and description, lot number, country of origin and expiration date (for sterile and presaturated products). Labels are printed with solvent-resistant ink on cleanroom-compatible label stock.
  • Outer bag artwork:  Anticon bags will retain the current design but with Contec’s logo replacing the Milliken logo. Outer bags will be printed with solvent-resistant inks.
  • Cases:  Anticon Products will be shipped in strong corrugated cases to protect the products during shipping and warehousing. Environmentally-friendly kraft cases will have a navy blue and white Contec corner case label. The case label will feature detailed product information similar to the product label with the addition of a lot number bar code.

If you have any questions regarding this transition period and how it might affect your shipments, please contact your local Contec representative or Contec corporate offices at 800-289-5762 or +1-864-503-8333 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST, Monday-Friday).
